Discoloration on face, and hematoma?

I was hoping that I could help with a medical issue that I have .. I was playing baseball with some friends for 4 weeks, and the ball hit me hard in the left cheek, and left me with a black eye. The bruising has subsided, but I stayed with a blow that I think is a hematoma. It is a quarter inch to half inch in width, length and depth. My question is: Is bruising like this usually dissipates back into the bloodstream over time or should be concerned about scar tissue? Is there anything I can do to help the recovery process along? I noticed the swelling down slightly in the last week or two, but when I wake up sometimes, it feels more swollen, does this mean that the hematoma is getting bigger, or is simply something that should be expected to healing process? Whenever I get something like dark colors like Black my skin is so light and as good, but I always say something like light colors like white or yellow my skin gets all dark n dull and stuff. (NO SUPER DARK as Dark tannish)
